Annapurna is a massif in the Himalayans. It is female Sanskrit name that literally means “Goodness of the Harvests”. Annapurna I (1) Main is the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8091m above sea level.
September-October Lazo and Pugovkin are going to summit Annapurna I (1) and to freeride from the top without using bottled oxygen.
The Annapurna I (1) peak is among the world’s most dangerous mountain to clim (of the 8000ers). This fatality-to-summit ratio - 32% - is the highest of any of the eight-thousanders (according to March 2012). Although Annapurna was the first 8000er to be climbed by people. In 1950 French expedition was the first who succeeded in this affair.
